The Royal Wedding. And I'm Wearing a Hat & Sipping Tea at the Four Seasons, Park 75 Lounge!

I did not think I'd bring myself to write this.  I've been kinda astonished at the amount of international press the Royal wedding of Will & Kate is getting. I mean, really? Times Square is televising the wedding, every news outlet is in London right now,  pajama parties (for those West-coasters) are being mobilized and some seriously decked out functions are being decorated by revelers.

While I've rejected every invitation to be a part of any kind of festivity tomorrow morning, I do acknowledge the two most quintessential elements of the wedding etiquette: Hats and Tea!

How perfect for a chick like me. So, when I got an invitation from the The Four Seasons hotel in Atlanta to attend their chic, afternoon viewing party, I couldn't resist. Why? Required attire is hats or fascinators (what else would you wear, right?), designer teas to sip on and handmade biscotti's and cookies to pair with.

That was enough reason to break down and decide to watch the world's most famous relationship ceremony.

My idea is to keep it simple but stylish. My sweet and super talented friend Vanessa of Bonen Bonnets, made me the fabulous hat in the pic above for another event earlier this week (and I rocked the hell out of it) now she's being kind enough to make me a special one for tomorrow---can't wait to see it!

I'm kinda excited, actually. So, if you're not doing anything to celebrate this young couples' vows or don't have a clue on where to wear your fabulous hat, join me and some friends at the Park 75 Restaurant and Lounge at the fab Four Seasons (that's if you're in Atlanta).

Pinky's up!

xo.

BEST HAT, EVER!

And now it's mine thanks to my man friend. This has to be the biggest impulse buy I've ever suffered. Was leaving mall. Saw it in the window. Tried it on. Couldn't see (totally impractical). Purchased. Now in my dressing room waiting for me to don it. Utter fabulosity.

I am one happy chick. Especially since it's so Phillip Tracey-esque.

White House Black Market 20" floppy raffia hat.

A Hec of a Sexy Week in the US Virgin Islands...

But I'm back. Drats. Sorry for being out of sight for the past two weeks! Without notice, I hopped on a plane and went to St. Croix to attend their 11th annual Food & Wine Experience! Talk about sexy *ish, super delish food and the most laid back attire anyone could wear.

Unfortunately, I've not figured out how to pack for 6 day beach trips where the agenda requires nothing other than eating, drinking, sailing and eating some more. I'd like to think I can bring my normal size 4 clothes, but somehow I'm experimenting with packing bigger clothes just to give room for the expanding my belly and legs will do from all the gluttony.

So, I'm back and having to regroup, unpack (b/c I was impractical enough to take 9 bags, 9 shoes, 5 hats all of which I wore, 10 rings, 6 necklaces, 8 earrings, and the immeasurable list goes on), make sense of my notes and make follow up calls.

Why was I there? Well, for my newcomers and friends, I'm a full-time private chef and food and travel writer (the bill-payers); so I was invited to hit the island and cover all its goodness. All that means is that the party is over and it's time to spend this week writing story, after story after story. And processing at least 100 images of 900 images.

These are a few shots from my trip. I'll be doing full journalistic and blog-appropriate recaps on Flanboyant Eats, my food blog and in my column in Latina Magazine.  I'll let you know when they're up so you can check it out! And I did some awesome boutique shopping and perusing on the island which I'll share with you lovelies later this week. I think you'll fall in love with the Virgin Islands, if you've not been!

Thanks for stopping by after being absent so long. But, great, great fashion news and street looks on Wed--the other reason I was absent for so long!

Smooches!

Herrera earrings and Catherine Malandrino cocktail dress; Cane Bay beach sign; Chef Michael Ferraro's cheesecake; view of beach from my lounge chair at resort; my toes while laying out yesterday morning.

Gifts, Finds, Purchases & Whites

I'm so glad spring is here. It means lots of happy things are coming, like birds chirping, enticing cocktails, breezy walks, outdoor trysts, vacays to the beach and sexy clothes. But, this week was pure madness in my crazed world. People upset me, hurt my feelings and challenged my authority. That left me running for retail therapy. Such a cliché, right?! But it's the true and I make no apologies.

These are some fab finds my mom and I came across while thrifting in DC and Atlanta, a few gifts from a friend, and a few must-haves for spring... there were a few more loveables that made it home with me, but these in particular made me very happy this week! I'm still finding that right vibe I want to go for this season, but I'm loving everything I'm seeing so far, especially whites and neutrals!

1. Thrifted high-waisted skirt for a whopping $2!
2. Gifted Israeli designer octopus ring! LOOOVE this. It's huge and takes up two fingers.  Funny since my animal of choice is the owl.
3. Uberlarge vintage leather cognac portfolio clutch. Found this in my office, in an old USPS bin underneath paperwork from 6 years ago. Major score considering I was going to buy either the big Marc Jacobs clutch or another one similar I saw online.
4. Purchased lace-up oxfords from Aldo.
5. Vintage glass ball necklace with the baddest panther clasp, ever! And the balls have peach spots on them! Haven't officially worn it but used it for a photo shoot.
6. Purchased booties at 5.5" from Aldo -- major happy moment.
7. Vintage crystal earrings my mom found for $5! All pieces are in full tact. Sweeeet.
8. Entirely too large crystal flower ring I bought at a kiosk in the mall. Lurves it.
