Carolina Herrera on Gilt Groupe (& Yo Tambien!)

Not because we have the same last name or because we're both chic Latinas, rather because she epitomizes timeless classiness and has an extraordinary eye for sophisticated lines and sexy textures, I LOVE me some Carolina Herrera.

When she was featured on Gilt Groupe last week, I gasped, kicked my head back and sang mentally OM's to garner up some dough to pick up these very specific pieces.

Thanks, Gilt Groupe for offering some otherwise unattainable pieces at such fab prices! To add to the excitement of having a CH garment so close, you were also kind to feature me on Gilt City last week. I just await my blogger win goodies so I can scoop up a piece or two, even though it may not be the elusive asymmetrical silk organza floral gown!

But, I'm sure I'll find something!

Of Sand and Water.

I've just returned from 8 days of a much needed vacation in beautiful Mazatlan, Mexico. While we didn't get to spend too much time on the beach, I did sulk  bask in every bit of blazing sun ray while we walked on the malecón.

There's something so sweet about walking barefoot in the sand and having splashes of ocean water swish through your toes. A lovely feeling of pure bliss.

Beach vacations are the best excuse ever to be lazy. I had no desire to pack fabulous pieces and found myself making do with oldies but faithfuls.

I did just that for 8 days, with the exception of one. More on that one later.

On this particular day, my parents, sis and I were walking along the beach looking for a seaside restaurant to fill our bellies. We eventually settled on a seafood spot where foolery ensued. That is, in the way of taking silly but highly fun pictures with mami.... This was my favorite. Isn't she just so cute!

Wearing:

Eyelet dress from The Gap; Head scarf from H& M; Paisley bag from Banana Republic; Sunglasses by Gucci; Hawai'in kuikui nut necklace; C.B. Herrera bracelets; Custom made huaraches from visit to Puerto Vallarta on earlier trip. On mom -- Christian Dior sunglasses.

Thanks to my dad and sis for taking the pics!

Girl in a Blue Dress

I can't tell you how much I love this dress. When I found it 8 years ago, it was one of those "love me now"  moments that visually took me to a scene in Breakfast at Tiffany's and even The Sound of Music. Does clothes do that to you?

I've always been fascinated with vintage pieces, especially ones that have a story. And though I don't know the history behind this one, I found it intriguing and very soulful. Perhaps it was the bold pattern or the hidden blue tulle underneath the skirt. Better yet, the subtle, yet sexy open back with an unassuming but lovely blow.

On an excruciatingly hot day, a friend I went out for cupcakes in cutesy town square, where I frolicked among the flowers and played in the old stationary train.

It was a perfect day for a perfect dress -- that needs alterations on the shoulders! If only I would have known the straps were falling off.... I'd say the back shot was pretty inviting!

Thrifted dress; LAMB shoes; Moschino sunglasses; C.B. Herrera earrings; vintage lucite and cinnabar cuffs; Anne Klein watch; vintage and Banana Republic rings; Swarovski hair pin; vintage clutch.

Sexy Shoe Sunday: The Perfect White Pump

I was supposed to be married at 24. That was my dream age. I had everything planned out. A huge Cinderella style gown, a tiara, 300 guests, sparkly shoes and hand-picked flowers.

So much of my dream has changed. Now, it's more like a Grecian-style or Vera Wang gown (or a couture Carolina Herrera), a fabulous fascinator, my mom's jewelry and some bad ass pumps [maybe 150 people]

In anticipation of being married in the last 5 years, I bought some amazing Narciso Rodriguez white satin pumps. I neatly kept them stored in their dust bag and box for 3 years until I realized that man had still not come. Since then, I've rocked the hotness out of them and are one of my faves.

And then Charlotte Olympia came along, made her debut and and took the shoe industry by lustful storm. Her Fall '11 line is sick and one to seriously covet. There's not one shoe I don't like. But, of all the pumps, I particularly love this Paloma stain pump. Though the green one speaks unparalleled sexiness to me, these white ones are breathtakingly heavenly. Perfect for a bride.

Even if I were to get married within the year, these would be in top contention. Wouldn't you say!

A Red Dress That Never Was.

Without going into detail this very moment, I founded an artist charity event back in 2006, just as I started my new life in Atlanta. I did it again in 2007 and that year decided I was going to be one of the featured artists. Since I had every intention of being on stage, performing and specifically covering this hip-shaking J.Lo Spanish hit, I went to a designer friend of mine and asked her to dress me.

I knew exactly the look I wanted to have. We went to a luxury fabric store and perused the aisles for the perfect print.

We came out with a bold red with exotic flowers print in silk. The designer got to work and sketched this idea. I loooooved it! It had every detail I envisioned.

But the dress was never made and I didn't perform.

But, I want to accomplish both. It's only a matter of time. I'm working on the event again after a 3 year hiatus and back in the studio after a just as long and solace break from recording.

What I want to know is, do you love the dress?!?! What are your thoughts? Should I commission to have it finished?

I want the red dress that never was to be the red dress hanging in my dressing room!
