Introducing My Muse

T-B: Vintage eelskin carry all bag; vintage monogramed Ralph Lauren blazer; Marc Jacobs piped denin pant.

***********

3 years ago I met this fabulous young woman at a local boutique fashion show. I was organizing and in the middle of producing my 2nd annual charity event, which also involves a fashion show. There was no hesitation in asking her if she'd model. She did it, knocked it out the box and then moved to Nashville, TN.

I've not seen my one time model since then, but recently reconnected with her via email. Good ol' email.

This time, I was in the middle of reshooting a lot of inventory on B So Chic! online, so I approached her again, this go 'round asking if she'd model for a product shoot. Like me 3 years ago, she didn't hesitate.

Upon arrival from an overnight flight from Madrid, Spain, Christina knocks on my door, changes, hits the couch and wakes up bright and early to get her make-up done.

Sure, I passed on getting mine done so she could get all dolled up. Then again, I had to finish styling and putting looks together.

Here are 3 items, two re-dos an 1 new that will be added to the store at beesochic.com this week! Do check it out! All are a true find and steal!

A QuickFire Change For Dinner

A scheduled media dinner on a lazy and almost rainy evening last week, forced me to turn in my hole-y pants and oversized college sweatshirt into a semi-conversative get up.

The most exciting part was picking the shoes to wear! That made me find my happy place. But the hair. Hmm. I didn't know what to do with it, so a no-fuss bun was the fastest thing I could think of. Wasn't crazy about the turn out since it gave the outfit an unintentional grungy old-world glam look, but I looked at my feet and all was right!

Dinner was fabulous which I'll talk about here later this week.

And coming back home to my rainy night attire was even better.

Cuz yeah, the sky opened up and it rained all night.

A Quickie For TV!

I hope you really get to know me and my crazy life over time as you read my posts. I'm so tickled to be here after so long! Once you become a bit familiar with mi vida,  I think you'll be wondering why I'm even taking time to document my obsession with playing dress-up.

In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson "The sense of being perfectly well-dressed gives a feeling of tranquility that religion is powerless to bestow."

Notwithstanding the religion reference, I couldn't agree more. So, yeah, me getting dressed up and well, is important. Only thing is, I don't always have the time to put the effort into it that I'd like...

But when it comes to assignments or proposals with a major purpose, I can quickly make it happen.

This wasn't a bona fide dress up experience, as I'm wearing jeans and not the cocktail dress and evening strappy shoes that qualify quintessential party girl, but I had some direction.

The point was to be ME, every day me, with a bit of more make- up!

I got a call from a producer a few months ago. They needed head shots and tho I won't get into details here, I had to make this happen in less than 24 hours.

This is how it went back in May, even though the weather was acting like a total jerk. Fly-aways have never seen so much attention from my freshly manicured hand!

It was windy and getting ready to rain. Clearly my facial expressions math the climate: Boring.

Love black and white photography.

And, Photoshop.

Not the craziest about this one, but the photographer did, so I used it.

And then the shoes. This was my profile pic on Facebook for a while.  It was about the shoes.

It's always about the shoes!

I got the gig which I've yet to announce so stay tuned! Smooches!

What Grocery Shopping on the Fly Looks Like

I'm a food columnist. And a private chef. Among other fashionable things here and there, I find myself being asked to produce last minute recipes and stories.

This means a super quick change of plans and jumping out of my pj's--cuz that's what I work in during the day until something pressing comes about.

Or a cute UPS guy comes to my door, in which case I have a stash of light make up at my desk. I'll share a view from my home office real soon and then you'll understand!

Well, this last minute change of plans happened to me yesterday at 2pm; right smack in the middle of my lazy hour. I had 2 hours to go shopping and come back to start making something fabulous.

Getting dressed for the wanna be fall day went like this.

Size and style of bag is important when out doing these things. I never know what I'm going to have to throw in there. In this case, my camera since I tend to snap pics of really great fresh food at the market.

This one meets my fancy just right.

My really old loung-y pants (with a hole in the butt--for real) are too long for me so I was *forced* to wear some fab wedges.

And, because I was on a serious time crunch to hit up 3 stores, including a craft spot, I had to make sure a large enough time piece kept me on track. My iPhone clock just doesn't cut it!

I ran out of time and couldn't muster enough energy to take any more pics. I was already getting crazy looks as I sat in my car outside of Costco and played around with this shot above.

The average person just doesn't get it!

I'm so excited that all my cooking and recipe tasting turned out yummy and satisfied my appetite. I was just pooped to no end when it all ended at 3 am.

Just another day in the life of a fashionable foodie!

Benetton pants//charity shirt//Donna Karen Sport zip-up//Gap belt//Aldo wedges//NY Hat Co. newsboy cap//Regina distressed leather shoulder bag//Kenneth Cole watch//vintage and new silver rings//Guess hoops//vintage fringed scarf//Betsey Johnson cats eye shades.

Trying To Get My Mojo Back & My Birthday!

I love fashion. That's not news to anyone in my world. They all know it. They all comment on it. I love shoes. I have over 200 (a skim number in comparison to other fashionistas). I love hats. I have about 150 (a generous number for today's era of lost demure). And, I love jewelry. I wear tons of vintage and my mom's line just about every day. I love black blazers. I love thrifting. I love shopping overseas. I love Chanel.

It's a big part of who I am. But, aren't most women made up like that?! ;)

So, what happened to the blog? Well, a superbly failed attempt at giving a young college student an opportunity to channel her very youthful and emerging fashion sense with an internship with my company, caused me to fall back on the fashion talk and depend on my money-making career: Food and writing. Fashion is just a passion that I share because I love it. It makes me smile and tingle inside.

Even my on-line boutique took a back seat. But, I'm back! A full throttle photo shoot for fall/winter inventory took place this week and oh joy how amazing was it all! I can't wait to get all the pieces up in less than two three weeks!

To that end, I am committed to build this with or without help. Period. It's just that simple. After visiting some awesomely delicious fashion blogs in the last 3 weeks, I think I've found my inspiration. Some of you gals just got it down!

And, I'm in!

This will be a slight challenge only because of time, but I'm looking forward to documenting my Coco Chanel, my Lena Horne and all others that have shaped fashion. Thank goodness for my awesome  photographer who'll be helping capture my daily ensembles, shopping outings, vintage finds, and mom's jewelry line development. It'll be so much fun!

I'll start with the fab time I had celebrating my birthday last week at the uber sexy  St. Regis hotel in Atlanta!

I decided to go for a more sophisticated look that worked well, but in retrospect it would have been much more fun to wear a mini skirt, colored tights and a cape coat!

Hope to see you back and make a new fashion friend in you! :)

(read about the celebration here, on my culinary musing blog!)
